Industry leaders share their views on how 5G will impact different industries after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the technology at IMC 2022

5G technology has officially been unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the  India Mobile Congress 2022 being held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. 5G technology will provide seamless coverage, high data rate, low latency, and highly reliable communications. It will increase energy efficiency, spectrum efficiency and network efficiency. PM Modi also inaugurated the sixth edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC). 

IMC 2022 is scheduled to be held from 1 to 4 October with the theme of “New digital Universe”. It will bring together leading thinkers, entrepreneurs, innovators, and government officials to discuss and showcase unique opportunities emerging from the rapid adoption and spread of digital technology. “I specially urge those from the tech world, my young friends and the StartUp world to join this special program,” said PM Modi.

Numerous opportunities will arise for the skilled workforce in India as the demand for 5G services rises. For an estimate, in FY2021–2022 around 36,000+ competent workers were needed in India for 5G and allied technologies. Due to the increased use of internet services and apps, the demand for better telecom networks, and currently the implementation of 5G network, this gap will only widen.
