PM CARES Fund: How to Get Payment Receipt?

People are asking for a payment receipt as contributions towards PM-CARES Fund are notified for 100 percent deduction from taxable income

PM CARES Fund, a noble initiative that was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to further the country’s fight against Coronavirus outbreak, has captured the interests of millions of citizens of the country. Not only are celebrities and large organizations contributing generously towards the cause, but also individuals from all walks of life are donating to the PM CARES Fund.

Apart from fighting the Coronavirus outbreak, what seems to have intensified the contributions towards the PM CARES Fund is the fact that contributions towards it, are notified for 100 percent deduction from taxable income under section 80(G) of the Income Tax Act, 1961. Naturally, donors are wondering how to claim the payment receipt against their contributions.

How to Get Payment Receipt for PM CARES Fund?

A majority of the donors of the PM CARES Fund, who have donated through UPI modes such as Google Pay, PayTM, PhonePe, Amazon Pay and others have received a payment receipt through their email addresses. Therefore, donors need to ensure that the correct email address is provided to receive the payment receipts.

Nevertheless, some donors say that despite giving an accurate email address, they still have not received their payment receipts. “I have donated using GPay UPI to pm cares fund on 30th March 2020. But till yet I haven’t received any acknowledgment receipt which can be used further. How to get acknowledgment receipt?” ask Ashish Yadav on DataQuest.

“I have contributed Rs. 5000 to PM Cares fund on 03.04.2020, through Google pay. No acknowledged slip is receipt so far. Kindly enquire the matter and inform me,” says Arun Kumar like several other viewers. Donors who have not received an email may receive it in a few days as millions of people are contributing towards the cause.

To users who have contributed through PayTM, the official handle of the platform has replied on Twitter saying: “Hi, Thanks for your contribution to PM CARES Fund. The receipts will be available for download on an official government portal after 30 days, the link for the same shall be updated very soon. Rest assured, your contribution will be successfully transferred to PM CARES Fund.”

Along the same lines, ICICI Bank, which has been authorized as a contribution collection banking partner for PM CARES Fund says on its portal that formal contribution receipts can be downloaded by the donors from the 'PM CARES' Portal after 20 days of the donation. Google Pay has also directed its donors towards the donee organization.

“Please note that the donation confirmation that you see on Google Pay is not a receipt from the donee organisation. The appropriate tax receipt can be availed directly from the donee organisation and users should contact them if they qualify for but have not received a tax receipt,” says the Google Pay help page.

How to Get Instant e-Receipt from PM CARES Fund?

Users who contribute directly through the pmindia.gov.in portal will be redirected to the SBI payments platform when they opt for online donations. Upon filling all details and submitting the donation, users will be redirected to an invoice page wherein an option to download the e-receipt will be available.
