Raju Files Fresh Bail Plea
B Ramalinga Raju, founder and chairman, Satyam Computer Services filed a
fresh bail application in the Andhra Pradesh High Court, claiming that he had
voluntarily surrendered to the police and was cooperating with the investigating
agencies in all respects as a law-abiding citizen. Apart from Raju, all other
nine accused in Indias biggest corporate fraud have been granted bail. Raju is
undergoing treatment for hepatitis-C at a Hyderabad hospital while officially in
police custody.
Panel to Search for Tatas Successor
Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata group, has set up a five-member
committee to find a successor to Ratan Tata, who will retire at the age of
seventy-five. Ratan Tata, chairman of the $72 bn Tata Group, is due to retire in
December 2012. The panel will look within the group and outside, including
overseas, for a new head for the salt-to-software conglomerate.

Indira Parikh, president, Foundation for Liberal and Management Education
(FLAME) and former dean, IIM Ahmedabad, was awarded Lifetime achievement and

CA Names Lim as MD, APAC
Lionel Lim will join CA Technologies as president, Asia Pacific, effective
from August 30, 2010. Lim will be responsible for growing CA Technologies
business in the APAC region that includes Australia/New Zealand, India, Greater
China, Taiwan, Korea and Southeast Asia. Prior to joining CA Technologies, Lim
spent twenty years at Sun Microsystems and ten years at HP.
Rawat is New CEO, Bharti Infratel
Bharti Infratel, a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel, announced the appointment of
Devender Singh Rawat as its CEO. Rawat would be responsible for putting together
and driving a concrete long term strategy for the company and proactively
handling matters relating to business augmentation, operations and service
excellence. He would also be responsible for key transformation projects such as
energy saving and deployment of renewable energy-saving solutions, Classic IT
(CIT) business process automation and the state-of-the-art network operating
center (NOC).
Arun Kumar Gives Hat to Khow
Red Hat, provider of open source solutions, announced six senior management
appointments to boost its Asia-Pacific management team and position the company
for growth in the region. Kenny Khow has been appointed as senior director.

Srinija Srinivasan, who helped launch Yahoo! more than fifteen years ago, announced that she would be stepping down. The vice president and editor-in-chief, Srinivasans departure comes as Carol Bartz, chief executive oversees an ongoing turnaround effort at Yahoo! which has involved restructuring the management and shifting focus away from search. The company is emphasizing on its online display-advertising business. |
Mallyas Website Hacked
Industrialist and Rajya Sabha MP, Vijay Mallya was taken by shock on
Independence day when his official website, www.mallyainparliament.com, was
hacked, apparently by a Pakistani outfit. The Pakistani flag was placed on the
site with a dire message from an organization claiming to be the Pakistan Cyber
Army. The website has now been fixed and the Pakistani statements have been
removed.
Lesjak Appointed as HPs Interim CEO
A company insider since twenty-four years, Cathie Lesjak, has been appointed
by the HP board as interim CEO following the abrupt resignation of Mark Hurd on
August 6, 2010. Lesjak has been HPs chief financial officer and a member of
HPs executive council since January 2007.
Alcatel-Lucent Appoints Seth as Country Head
Alcatel-Lucent appointed Munish Seth as country head for its Indian
business. Seth who brings twenty years of expertise and experience in the
telecom industry, takes over from Vivek Mohan, who now heads Alcatel-Lucents
global services business. Seth, who was the chief technical officer at Tekelec
before joining Alcatel-Lucent, will report to Rajeev Singh-Molares, president of
the Asia-Pacific region.
