Sharma Quits Yahoo! India

Yahoo!
India has announced that the chief executive officer of the search engine major,
Sharad Sharma has decided to quit the company. The company has named Shoubick
Mukherjee as the companys new R&D head. Sharad Sharma, Yahoo! India R&D has
decided to leave Yahoo! to pursue other opportunities.

Bobby Mitra Back at TI India



Texas Instruments has appointed Dr Biswadip (Bobby) Mitra as president and
managing director of TI India. In his new role, Dr Mitra will lead all of TIs
research and development, sales and marketing activities in India. Dr Mitra
joined TI 23 years ago and most recently served as director of the Americas
wireless communication product development activities at Texas Instruments,
Dallas. He also led TIs ultra-low power DSP core.

AMD Appoints Calflin

AMD
has appointed Bruce Claflin as the companys new chairman. Claflin replaces
Hector Ruiz, who retired from AMDs board in conjunction with assuming the
position of chairman of the board of The Foundry Company. Claflin has been a
member of AMDs board of directors since August 2003. He has 33 years of
experience in senior positions with IBM, Digital Equipment and most recently as
CEO and member of the board of directors of 3Com where he retired from in 2006.
He is also a member of the board of directors for Ciena.

Long to be Arrow CEO

Melville-based
Arrow Electronics, an electronic components distributor, intends to appoint
Michael J Long as its chief executive officer at the companys annual meeting on
May 1, 2009. Long will succeed William E Mitchell who has served as chief
executive officer since 2003. Mitchell will remain as executive chairman through
December 31, 2009, to ensure a seamless transition. Mitchell has been chairman
since 2006.

Prabhat Singh @ McAfee

McAfee
has appointed Prabhat Singh as senior director for Asia-Pacific-Japan operations
of McAfee Avert Labs. His appointment is part of McAfees continued focus on the
anti-malware and security services space in India. Singh is credited for
starting the anti-virus research operations for McAfee India at Bengaluru in
2009. He has over 14 years of experience in carrying out security and data
forensics research.

Soo Heads Samsung India

Jung
Soo Shin, who was earlier the head of marketing for Samsungs digital appliances
business has been appointed as the new president and CEO of Samsung India
Electronics as well as the head of Samsung Southwest Asia. Earlier, a separate
executive, SH Oh was serving as the CEO of Samsung India Electronics.

Videocon Appoints Rathore

Jaideep Rathore has been appointed as the chief marketing officer by
consumer durable firm Videocon. Earlier, Rathore was heading the companys Italy
operations. Rathore would be overseeing the marketing functions of all the
brands for consumer electronics and appliances of Videocon across the country.

Dell Board Resignations

Dell
has announced that two members of its board of directors, Michael A Miles and
Alan (AG) Lafley, have decided not to seek re-election to the board when their
current terms end in July. Dell has begun the search for Miles and Lafleys
replacements on the board. Miles is retiring from the Dell board after 14 years
as a director. Lafley, a Dell director since July 2006, said stepping away from
the Dell commitment will allow him to dedicate more time to his role as chairman
of the board and CEO of The Procter & Gamble Company.

Tucholski Joins Annik

Annik, a provider of market research support and data management services, has
appointed Steve Tucholski as North America vice president and principal
consultant. The move is part of a strategic expansion in the US.

Domme HDS CEO

Hitachi
Data Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, has appointed Jack Domme as
the companys chief executive officer. Minoru Kosuge has been promoted to
chairman of Hitachi Data Systems. Domme, who was appointed chief operating
officer in 2007, succeeds Kosuge who was appointed chief executive officer. The
new executive appointments are effective April 1, 2009.

TI Appoints Boyd

Texas Instruments has appointed Alan C Boyd as vice president and director
of financial reporting. In this role, Boyd develops and maintains the integrity
of TIs financial reporting process and financial controls and ensures that all
transactions comply with US GAAP. Boyd joined TI in 1986 and most recently
served as public reporting manager, where he prepared public financial
statements including annual reports and 10-Ks. Boyd has also served as finance
director for TI Philippines, where he led the financial function for the
subsidiary.

Googles Brilliant Steps Down

Larry
Brilliant has stepped down as the head of the philanthropic arm of Google.org.
But Brilliant, a leading epidemiologist, said he would continue to play a role
as Googles chief philanthropy evangelist. He said Google remained committed
to devoting one percent of Googles equity and profits to philanthropy but
indicated the company would put a greater focus on non-profit efforts tied to
Google projects.

Bauman Joins CA Hyderabad

CA
has appointed William Bauman as senior vice president and general manager of the
India technology center (ITC) in Hyderabad. Bauman takes over from Lokesh Jindal,
who moves to the US to take up another assignment. In his new role, Bauman will
be leading product development organizations for independent software vendors,
with primary responsibility for engineering, marketing and business development.

Narayana Murthy to be Comic Book Hero

NR Narayana Murthy, the chief mentor of Infosys Technologies is all set to
adorn a new role, a really heroic one at that. The life of Murthy is soon going
to be the content of a new comic that popular comic book series Amar Chitra
Katha is planning to bring out.

This is for the first time that Amar Chitra Katha is profiling a living
person in its comic book.

iPhone/iPod Banned in Gates House

Bill
Gates has said a big no-no for arch rival Apples iPhones and iPods in his
house-hold, if one is to believe the words of his wife. As per media reports,
Melinda Gates, wife of Microsofts former CEO and co-founder told Vogue
magazine that there are very few things that are on the banned list in the Gates
household, but iPods and iPhones are two things they dont get for their kids.
Over the last decade, the popularity of new Apple products such as the iPod and
the iPhone as well as their computers, has promoted the company to a chief rival
status. It was rumored that there exists a kind of animosity between Gates and
Apple founder Steve Jobs but the pair have made public efforts to appear
friends.
