Lee Joins K7 as CTO
K7 Computing has appointed Andrew Lee as its chief technology officer. He is
a founding member and current CEO of AVIEN (Anti-Virus Information Exchange
Network), and a board member of the fledgling AMTSO (Anti-Malware Testing
Standards Organization) Group, in addition to being a member of AVAR
(Association of Anti-Virus Asia Researchers), a reporter for the WildList
organization and a contributing author to the recent AVIEN Malware Defense
Guide.
Banerjee as New CEO, L&T
L&T Infotech, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Larsen&Toubro has appointed Sudip
Banerjee as its chief executive officer. Banerjee is expected to drive the
companys ambitious growth plans, add strategic depth to its wide-ranging
offerings, and secure greater traction from its unique business-to-IT
connects. He joins L&T Infotech from Wipro Technologies.
Rangieni is COO for Satyam BPO
Satyam
BPO has appointed Vijay Rangineni as chief operating officer. Prior to joining
Satyam BPO, Vijay was associated with GE Money, India, as chief operating
officer. He has over 20 years of experience in the service industry with leading
organizations. His previous responsibilities include operations, finance, and
technology with global organizations like American Express and California Micro
Devices (CMD).
Cambridges Brian Courtney now SrVP
Cambridge Technology promoted Brian Courtney as senior vice president and
general manager of the government solutions arm of CTE. In his new role, Brian
will lead the government operations of the company and assume responsibility of
all programs. He joined CTE in 2005 and has held key roles in various business
divisions.
Camus is Alcatel-Lucents New CEO
Communication provider Alcatel-Lucent has appointed Philippe Camus as the
companys non-executive chairman with effect from October, 2008. The company
also announced the appointment of Ben Verwaayen as its chief executive officer.
Verwaayen would also join the companys board of directors. Before joining
Alcatel, Philippe Camus was associated with European Aeronautic Defense and
Space Company (EADS), Lagardre, an international media group. Ben Verwaayen was
associated with the management board of Lucent Technologies in the US, and with
British Telecom as chief executive officer.
Murthy Joins Pro-Tata Campaign
NR Narayana Murthy, chairman of the Board, Infosys Technologies said that
what has happened in Singur is unfortunate and it is time to settle the issue of
farm land in Singur and elsewhere in India. He also opined that this is a
setback for the job opportunities for youngsters in West Bengal.
MULs Uppal is Champion CIO 2008
CIOL in association with Dataquest magazine instituted the Enterprise Connect
Awards to recognize and award the pioneering works done by CIOs in large and
medium enterprises. Rajesh Uppal of Maruti Udyog is the Champion CIO this year
in the above Rs 1,000 crore category. Daya Prakash of LG Electronics won the
Gold CIO award, and Raja Sharma of Shree Cements won the Silver award.
PM Inaugurates Training Center in Assam
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inaugurated the new TCS training center in
Guwahati, Assam. The Prime Minister also made joint address to the current batch
of TCS trainees and IIT students.The new learning center is based at the
sprawling IIT campus in Guwahati. It has the capacity to train up to 200
professionals at one time.
Delhi CM Inaugurates Learning Center
Sheila Dikshit, honorable Chief Minister of Delhi inaugurated the first NIIT
Community Learning Center (CLC), set up in association with NGO, ABHAS, at the
Tughlakabad village. In its endeavor to bridge the education-employability gap,
and harness the latent talent pool existent in urban slums, the NIIT Institute (TNI),
a not-for-profit society by NIIT promoters, has set up the first-of-its-kind CLC
here in Delhi.
Subramanian is VP Sales and Marketing, AMD
AMD announced the appointment of Ramkumar Subramanian as VP, sales and
marketing for India and Saarc region. His responsibilities include collaborating
with AMD Indias managing director, Dasaradha Gude, to drive AMDs aggressive
growth plans for the region and strengthening the companys relationships with
customers, partners, government and education audiences.
Jeff Epstein, Oracles New CFO
Oracle has named Jeff Epstein as its new chief financial officer. He would
replace Safra Catz, who had been serving as both president and CFO of the
company since 2005. Catz would remain with Oracle as president, and Epstein
would be reporting to him. Prior to joining Oracle, Epstein was with Oberon
Media, DoubleClick (now owned by Google), King World Productions, and ADVO.
Experian Appoints Grady
Experian has appointed Bernie Grady as data strategy director within its
business information division. Prior to his appointment, Bernie was general
manager responsible for PH, following Experians acquisition of the B2B
analytics company in July 2007. In his new role Bernie will lead a dedicated
team focused on developing and executing the divisions data, matching, and
scoring strategy to ensure it continues to maximize its data assets to meet its
clients needs.
King Appointed New COO of Acision
Acision has appointed David King as executive vice president and chief operating
officer of the company. He would be responsible for worldwide sales and the
operational functions of Acision to ensure continued growth. Prior to this, he
was associated with UTStarcom, where he held the role of senior vice president
of international sales, marketing, and operations.
