Juniper Networks named Microsoft veteran Kevin Johnson as chief executive
officer. Upon his arrival in September, Johnson will also be appointed to the
board of directors. Before Microsoft, Johnson worked in IBMs systems
integration and consulting business.

Sun Promotes Unnikrishnan

Sun Microsystems announced the appointment of KP Unnikrishnan as its regional
marketing director for emerging markets. Unnikrishnan, who is currently
director, Marketing, Alliances, and Teleweb Sales for Sun India will move on to
head marketing operations with immediate effect.

Reji Cherian Appointed India Leader

Outsourcing services provider Capgemini has appointed Reji Cherian as its
telecom, media, and entertainment sector (TME) India leader. Cherian will be
based in Bangalore. He will be in charge of the companys One Team policy for
improving synergy in the offshore and onshore operations of the organizations.
Those working on the TME North America projects would also be reporting to him.

Ramachandran is CEO, Birlasoft

J Ramachandran has taken over as the chief executive officer of Birlasoft.
Ramachandran joined Birlasoft in July 2006 and was serving as its chief delivery
officer. Before joining Birlasoft, he had been with IBM Global Services for 11
years.

Sheila Gulati Joins Aurigo

Aurigo Software Technologies has appointed Sheila Gulati, general manager,

Dedicated EduSat Connection for Kalam

A direct satellite connection has been given to former President APJ Abdul
Kalam that will enable him to interact and hold videoconferences from any corner
of the country. One bandwidth of a mini EduSat hub set up last week at the
Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET) will manage all activities of
the former president, reports IANS.

Nasscom Appts Bajaj as CEO, DSCI

Nasscom has appointed Dr Kamlesh Bajaj as the CEO of the Data Security
Council of India (DSCI), and head of its security initiatives. Bajaj brings with
him over 30 years of experience in various roles within the IT industry. Prior
to joining Nasscom he was global head, Information Risk Management and Managed
Security Services, Global Consulting Practice with TCS.

Worlds Oldest Blogger Dies

An Australian woman renowned as the worlds oldest blogger has died at the
age of 108, with her last posting talking about her ailing health but also how
she still sings a happy song every day. Olive Riley began blogging in February
last year, sharing stories from her life during the two world wars and working
as a station cook in the outback.

Prime Focus Appoints Michael Fink

VFX major Prime Focus Group has appointed Academy and BAFTA award winner
Michael L Fink as president, VFX, worldwide. Fink was awarded the Oscar in
visual effects for The Golden Compass, for which he was the chief VFX
supervisor. Till date, Fink has worked with Disney, Paramount, Warner Brothers,
Dreamworks, and Sony.

New MDs for Microsoft, India

Jaspreet Bindra Rajan Anandan

Microsoft India has announced the appointment of Rajan Anandan as the MD of
its Sales Marketing and Services business in India, and Jaspreet Bindra as the
head of the Entertainment and Devices Division. Anandan, was till recently VP
and country GM for Dell India and prior to that he was with McKinsey. Bindra,
who has been with Microsoft India since 2005, had a very successful stint at
Online Services Group (OSG).

Steven Pickett Becomes President

Telmar Technologies has appointment Steven E Pickett as the companies
president and chief executive officer. Pickett was previously associated as the
chief operating officer of the companys Domestic and International Principal
Lines of business. Prior to Telmar, he was associated with Alcatel-Lucent, where
he served as senior vice president and general manager of its Optical Network
Division.

SmartCity Gets Mithun Beeru

SmartCity Kochi has appointed Mithun Beeru as business development manager
for its operations. SmartCity Kochi, a joint venture between SmartCity and the
Kerala Government, is a self sustained township for the knowledge-based industry
in Kochi, particularly for IT/BPO industries.

Velankar Joins YOU Telecom

Citigroup-owned triple play service provider YOU Telecom has roped in
Kishore Velankar as the national head, HR. Prior to joining YOU Telecom,
Velankar was Global senior vice president, Human Capital Management with KPO
firm Integreon Managed Solutions.

Madan Acquires Stake in Maximus

Raman Madan, who was heading Autodesks Apac operations until June 2008, has
acquired a significant stake in Maximus, the educational arm of Aditya Infotech.
According to Raman, Technology and the way it is applied is changing very fast.
And there is a need for a structured way to enable upgradation of skills.

Tech Mahindra Gets M Damodaran

Tech Mahindra has inducted M Damodaran, ex-chairman of SEBI, as an additional
director of the company. With the induction of M Damodaran, the Tech Mahindra
Board strength stands at 12. Damodarans prior appointments include chairmanship
of IDBI and of UTI. He was also a member of the Indian Administrative Service
and has served as chief secretary, Government of  Tripura.

Arora Appointed by mKhoj

Harmeet Singh Arora joins mKhoj, Indias largest mobile advertising network
as head of Sales. Prior to this he was head of Sales at Zapak, a Reliance Big
Entertainment company, where he was instrumental in getting some of the largest
strategic alliances and sales deals with Pepsi, Dominos, and McDonalds.

Prasad Joins MatexNet

J Krishna Prasad as joins MatexNet in July 2008 as president after
completing a three-year stint as chief financial officer at the Bharat Matrimony
Group. Prior to that he served as CFO at SRM Technologies.

Entrepreneur of the Year

Infinera president and CEO Jagdeep Singh received the 2008 Ernst & Young
Entrepreneur of the Year Award for networking and communications in the Northern
California program. According to Ernst & Young, the award recognizes outstanding
entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic, growing businesses in
Northern California.
