Premji's Son Joins Wipro
Rishad Premji, the eldest son of Wipro chairman Azim Premji, is
set to join the company "at a level commensurate with his background and
experience." Sources claim that Rishad is slated to don the role of a business
development manager under Girish Paranjpe, president of Wipro's Finance
Solutions Division. His appointment, however, is subject shareholders' approval,
as he is a relative of a director.
Badami Joins NetMagic
NetMagic Solutions, managed IT services provider, has appointed
Kishore Badami as VP of Global Marketing. In his new role he would be
responsible for developing marketing strategies to build the brand in India and
internationally. Sharad Sanghi, CEO and MD, welcoming Kishore Badami, said, "We
are delighted to have Kishore on board, as his substantial prior experience in
marketing brings great value to our organization."
Patni Appoints Stones
Patni Computer Systems has announced the appointment of Brian
Stones as executive VP responsible for its European operations. Patni's European
business showed a robust growth of over 60% last year. Prior to joining Patni,
Stones was a senior VP with ACS for two years, responsible for the business
operation in Europe.
Shnayder Joins GlogalLogic
GlobalLogic has appointed Boris Shnayder to head the company's
telecommunications business unit. He would be responsible for the strategic and
operational leadership of the business unit, which operates from the company's
delivery centers in India and Ukraine. Shnayder joins GlobalLogic from Motorola,
where he managed highly distributed international teams. Before Motorola,
Shnayder was executive director at Telcordia.
Sage Appoints Hobson as Non-executive Chairman
The Sage Group has appointed Tony Hobson as non-executive
chairman of Sage. Hobson joined the Sage Board in 2004 and became chairman of
its audit committee in 2005. He is also chairman of Northern Foods and is a
non-executive director of HBOS and GlasCymru.
Symantec Appoints Rajan as CTO
Symantec has announced the appointment of Basant Rajan as the
chief technology officer (CTO) for its Centers of Innovation in India. Basant, a
Doctorate in Computer Science from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, has had a long and distinguished career
at Symantec, having joined Veritas Software as senior developer in
1997. During this period Basant has filed twelve patents in his name.
Tellabs Appoints Khuntia
Tellabs appointed Prasenjeet Khuntia country manager of India.
In this role, Prasanjeet will oversee Tellabs' strategy and growth in India, Sri
Lanka and Bangladesh. Khuntia was with Tellabs from 1998 to 2004 as a sales
manager in charge of key accounts. Prior to his current position, he was the
business development manager for service providers in Cisco.
