Paytm Payments Bank, a unit of One97 Communications Ltd, has appointed Satish Kumar Gupta as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, announced Paytm. Mr Gupta has over 35 years of leadership experience and has been associated with State Bank of India (SBI) and National Payments Corporation of India (NCPI) prior to this.
Mr Gupta was with the State Bank of India for over 34 years and was instrumental in rolling out several new banking products like debit and prepaid cards. He has also worked with NPCI as Chief Project Officer/Advisor, said Paytm Payments Bank in a blog post.
“Having been a part of the banking and payments industry for close to four decades, I’ve been fortunate to experience the disruption and growth that the Indian economy has witnessed in promoting digital payments. I look forward to leveraging my understanding of banking and payments at Paytm Payments Bank and aligning myself to its vision of bringing financial inclusion through digital payments,” said Satish Kumar Gupta, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Paytm Payments Bank.
Mr Gupta’s appointment has been announced after Paytm declared that Renu Satti had stepped down as the CEO of Paytm Payments Bank a few months ago to head the new retail segment at the company as chief operating officer.
