Payments giant American Express to enter crypto, NFT space

Payment giant American Express recently filed new NFT and Metaverse trademark application, along with other virtual services and logos.

American Express has filed trademark for software to create, distribute and manage virtual payment card transactions, fraud detection and control services in metaverse and other virtual worlds. The trademark application specifically mentions request on software for electronic business transaction namely NFTs featuring textual and graphic content.

It has also filed trademark application for logos for American Express, AMEX, Centurion, shop small and memebership rewards.

Other finance service providers venturing into the Web3 sector include Visa, Mastercard and JP Morgan.
