In one of its kind of partnership, EdTech startup PlanetSpark has struck a deal with OYO to set up more than 500 ‘new age’ learning spaces for children across India, catering to all the learning needs of KG to 8th kids in the neighborhood. Funded by FIITJEE, India’s largest test prep company, PlanetSpark is on a mission to organize and standardize after-school education (a segment which is 95% unorganised and offers a $62 billion opportunity) across the country. The Gurgaon based startup which already has 400 learning centers across all the 7 Indian metros has a very aggressive scale-up plan to fulfil the demand that it is generating on its Mobile App and other digital platforms.

OYO, on the other hand, has always been aggressive on scaling up its self-operated properties. The company is on an expansion spree and disrupting the space of hospitality, co-living and co-working all at once. It has recently been funded by Airbnb besides being backed by Softbank in multiple funding rounds. The core USP of OYO is to offer a standardized experience across any of its properties and the same is lacking in the after-school education sector which makes this partnership a win-win for both the companies. While PlanetSpark has the education offering, OYO, will provide the spaces at scale required to be available in neighbourhood areas of all the top metros in India and help OYO monetise its properties beyond hospitality business.

“We realised that OYO had similar aggressive plans as us to scale up their supply over the next few months.Hence, instead of putting our efforts separately, we decided to join hands to have a force multiplier.  Also, we only wanted to partner with a trusted brand where parents can send their children without any safety concern" said Kunal Malik, Co-Founder of PlanetSpark.

The PlanetSpark learning platform has a publicly available App, where parents discover gamified learning content loaded with thousands of learning games, cartoons, videos, quests and quizzes. The gamified content stack is customizable and can be adapted to student learning pattern. PlanetSpark plans to use learning centres housed in OYO as “A Student can learn anything” model by taking the immersive education experience under the expert guidance of teachers in every corner of India. The learning spaces inside an OYO will have an appealing interior design, child friendly furniture, PlanetSpark’s engaging content and certified tutors, thus creating a truly standardised experience.

There is already a huge demand as PlanetSparkCo-Founder Maneesh Dhooper says, "Our learning app is growing exponentially and is generating high demand from parents across the country. For this one of its kind ‘Learn at your nearest OYO” model we already have over 1000 parents who have registered their children during our pre-launch phase.”
