New Update

Banner printing is emerging as a major trend. Is HP looking at it too?

The decisions around 2.0 were grounded in what are the areas of analog

printing publishing. We have the best opportunity to help accelerate to digital

and then be a leader in that space. Office printing as an industry has gone

digital, theres not much analog office printing left in most environments. In

our 2.0 strategy, a lot of focus was on how to get the retail photo from analog

film to digital. We talked a lot about the graphics signs going through the

transition from analog to digital, we talked a lot about publishing, we are on

the cusp of that.

Whats new in the printing business?

Our activities will be focused on not just getting new printers but also how

do you optimize what you have. Large analog printing/publishing make it very

attractive to move to the digital space. We continue to do innovations in our

day-to-day innovations. Energy efficiency has been a big focus area. Our key

focus is how do we reduce operating costs of companies and help them go green

and then offering them a solution without asking them to go for a tradeoff.

What kind of partners do you have for managed print services?

We have fifteen partners across the country. We have tried to make sure that

they can offer products, supply and service. These partners are demographically

spread cross the country. They are basically system integrators who work on

large accounts and are called Office Printing Solutions (OPS) partners. The

service they provide is called Smart Print Services.

How is India doing in the managed print services space, in terms of

revenue for HP?

Its definitely small base but high growth. At a regional level its

becoming a pretty respectable size business. Markets like Australia and Hong

Kong have a lot of influence from global companies and the size of the

enterprise business is huge. China, India and South East Asia are definitely not

as far along in the adoption of managed print services.

How do you plan to address this market?

A large set of solutions we will leverage from our global base. But clearly

we will need to be able to customize. There will be a key set of tools that are

going to be our primary foundation and then we will add to that some special

things for India.
