ISRO GSLV-F10 mission is all set to launch the first Geo Imaging Satellite (GISAT-1) from the second launch pad of Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota. The launch is tentatively scheduled at 5:43 pm IST on 5 March 2020, subject to weather conditions. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the latest Mann Ki Baat programme, had spoken about the launch view gallery and had also urged schools to use this facility. “A new system has been introduced. Now you can witness rocket launch from the launch site in Sriharikota itself. Recently it has been opened for public,” he said.

“A visitor’s gallery has been created with a seating capacity of 10,000. One can book online through the link given in ISRO’s website. I have been told several schools are bringing their students to witness the rocket launch in order to motivate them. I urge principals and teachers of all schools to avail this facility,” said PM Modi.

How to Register Online to Watch ISRO GSLV-F10 Launch Live?

Those interested to view the ISRO GSLV-F10 launch live will first need to log in to the official SDSC website. The first step would be registration with the website using a valid email address, which will be verified.

Upon verification, personal details such as name and address, and a valid Government ID such as Aadhaar card, Voter ID and so on will have to be provided. The ID will then be needed to be produced at the time of entry into the Launch View Gallery.

Visitor details such as individual or institute, no of people visiting, mode of transport and vehicle number will also be needed to be submitted. After the visitor details are provided, the final step would be capcha verification. An electronic pass will then be forwarded to the registered visitors, which will also have to be produced at the time of entry.

What the GISAT-1 Satellite Does

GISAT-1, which weighs about 2268 kg, is the first state-of-the-art agile Earth observation satellite that will be placed in a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit by GSLV-F10. The GISAT satellite will feature five types of multispectral cameras and provide near real-time pictures of large areas of the country, under cloud-free conditions, at frequent intervals.
