Delhi-based Nucleus Software Exports moved up to # 27 as against #29 last year thanks to it its excellent revenue growth. For the year ended 31st March 2003, Nucleus Software reported revenues of Rs 60.72 crore up 50% over the previous year and a net profit of Rs 7.36 crore, down 27% over the same period last year. The company’s gross block stood at Rs 21.75 crore. Nucleus is ranked at # 38 in sales growth, # 3 in sales growth, # 33 in profit, # 3 in sales growth and # 36 in profit growth. The company achieved ROCE of 18% compared to 25% last year and was ranked at # 25 in ROCE rankings.
Nucleus is focused on the BFS segment and has developed a number of products in this area. Its performance has been steadily improving over the past couple of years although the company has witnessed pressure on margins due to higher marketing and other overheads. Nucleus’ aggressive marketing efforts have now yielded positive results visible in the revenue growth of the company in the last couple of years. However, with its smaller scale of operations, its margins will remain under pressure for some time as marketing expenses are expected to rise rapidly.
