Now, get an SMS from Indian Railways if your train is cancelled

In a welcome initiative, the Indian Railways has started an SMS alert service for cancelled trains.  This project has been introduced on a pilot basis to save passengers from any inconvenience, and help them plan for an alternative mode of transport.  Initially, this service will be available only to passengers who are boarding trains at originating stations.

The SMS is sent to the mobile numbers that are registered while booking e-tickets or mobile numbers entered in reservations slips while buying tickets from counters.
