The CSAB, in conjunction with the Joint Admission Board (JAB) for IITs, will oversee the centralized seat allocation for the NIT+ system. Candidates' common rank list (CRL) in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) will serve as the basis for seat allocation, while the allocation process for IITs will be based on the CRL in JEE (Advanced).

In a departure from previous years, registrations for the JoSAA rounds of seat allocation will commence on 19 June 2023, immediately following the declaration of JEE (Advanced) results. CSAB-Special Rounds will begin on July 31st, 2023, after the conclusion of JoSAA rounds. The entire counseling process is slated for completion by August 14th, 2023, with classes in the NIT+ System expected to commence on August 17th, 2023.

Additionally, CSAB will conduct separate CSAB-Supernumerary rounds based on JEE (Main) ranks for admission to supernumerary seats in selected NITs reserved for candidates from Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

Approximately 2.5 - 3.0 lakhs JEE (Main) qualified candidates are expected to register for CSAB, vying for approximately 40,000 seats in NITs, IIEST, IIITs, SPAs, and Other-GFTIs. This figure includes the 20% female seats reserved in NITs.
