While NIOS result 2020 is yet to be announced, students awaiting their results can breathe a sigh of relief as the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended its last date for admissions. IGNOU has now extended the re-registration and fresh admission date extended till 16 August 2020. The dates have been extended for Bachelor’s degree programmes, Bachelor’s (Honours) degree programmes, and Master’s degree programmes.

Several students of the National Institute of Open Schooling had expressed concerns regarding the delay in NIOS result 2020 as they wanted to seek admission into IGNOU. The last date for admission into IGNOU Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programmes was 31 July 2020. However, the last date for admissions into various other boards is in the first week of August.

Parents and students claim that those who are expecting results are “worried” since they are unable to take admissions into higher classes. “Yes, my daughter is badly troubled and disturbed about the delay of the NIOS results, this is affecting her admission in the college she prefers, as other parents mentioned almost all colleges have closed and released the admission list, we deeply regret to note that we are still waiting for the marksheet. Requesting for the results immediately,” says Fabiola Kishore on DataQuest.

However, results are expected to be announced this week as the Supreme Court has asked the National Institute of Open Schooling to announced results before 7 August 2020. “Considering the fact that...NIOS has already issued notification on July 10, 2020, after institution of these petition(s), nothing survives for consideration in the present writ petition(s) except to observe that...NIOS must ensure that the result for the current academic year is declared not later than August 7, 2020," said a bench headed by Justice A M Khanwilkar, and comprising Justices Dinesh Maheshwari and Sanjiv Khanna.
