Several educators are writing to the Education Ministry regarding the NIOS DElEd NC problem. Apparently, teachers who have completed NIOS DElEd are still being declared “Not Certified”. Teachers are facing this problem as most of them have not updated their higher secondary marks prior to the deadline, which was 31 March 2019.

Teachers claim that the clause to update the higher secondary marks have been issued after ten months of completion of their course. Others have also been requesting the National Institute of Open Schooling to re-open the up-gradation portal.

“Respected sir, please do comment on the NIOS NC of the DElEd course organized by NIOS. We 2 lakhs of in-service teachers completed our course but have been deprived of certification due to an odd symbol NC on e-marksheet. We are embarrassed. Provide justice for NIOS DElEd,” says Manoj Kumar.

“We, the teachers whose NIOS DElEd marksheets are still NC, are unhappy on this teacher’s day. Even after completing the criteria of 50% in higher secondary, we are deprived of certificates by NIOS. Please help us,” says Sabyasachi Bhattacharjee.

“May I have your kind attention on this Teacher’s Day2020 towards the Teachers who are facing NC in D.El.Ed. marksheet. Sir, we haven't been certified yet by NIOS even after completing the criteria of 50% in class 12 (higher secondary). Sir, please save the Teachers of Assam,” says another teacher Shambhu Chakraborthy on Twitter.

Arguments Being Made by Teachers on the NIOS DElEd NC Issue

  • At the time of admission, there was no notification of updation deadline.
  • Apparently, during admission, there was also a clause that said graduates need not update higher secondary marks.
  • The latest clause, that marks need to be updated before completion of NIOS DElEd, has been introduced ten months after teachers completed their diploma, according to teachers.

However, there is no response on the matter so far from the Education Ministry or the National Institute of Open Schooling. NIOS DElEd, which stands for Diploma in Elementary Education, provides training for untrained in-service teachers.
