NIOS board exams 2021 scheduled to be held in June 2021 should be cancelled or postponed like the CBSE board exams, say students of the National Institute of Open Schooling. This development has come to light after the Government of India cancelled CBSE board exams 2021 due to rising COVID-19 cases in the country.

The students who have started to protest on social media platforms says that the reason for which CBSE board exams were cancelled holds good for NIOS board exams 2021 as well. The students have also requested authorities to consider them as equals to CBSE and ICSE board students.

“It is my humble request to honourable Dr Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal ji and, head of NIOS Prof Saroj Sharma, to promote us NIOS students. CBSE students are promoted and it will be discrimination against us if you didn't promote us. Please promote us,” says Abdullah.

“Now it's time for NIOS students because we're also equal to CBSE and ICSE students,” says Ashmit Kesarwani. “What about NIOS grade 10 and 12 students, I am a grade 10 student from Mumbai. Who will be taking the decision for NIOS?” says another student.

Some students also claim that they are yet to receive their study material, therefore NIOS board exams 2021 should be cancelled or postponed. “Cancel the exam. I didn’t even get my study material. How should I take examinations next month?” says Ayush. However, students should know that it may be early to comment on NIOS board exams as there is more than a month left for the examinations. Authorities are likely to decide based on the scenario around the time of examinations. NIOS boards are unlikely to be cancelled or postponed if the COVID-19 pandemic is brought under control by the end of May.
