NIET And PTC Invest INR 30 crore in its Smart Manufacturing Labs based on Industry 4.0

Noida Institute of Engineering & Technology, Greater Noida, in conjunction with PTC, are pleased to announce the official MOU Signing for new modernized Smart Manufacturing Lab in NIET campus on Industry 4.0. Being first of its kind in entire India, 9 different labs will be established under the cap of Smart Manufacturing Lab. They are Manufacturing & Machining Lab, Automation Control Lab, Product Design & Development Lab, Validation Lab, Reverse Engineering Lab, Rapid Prototyping Lab, Reality Lab, IoT Lab and Augmented Reality Lab.

The laboratories will be known as PTC Centre of Excellence for numerous mechanical and electronics innovations and trends. A 30 crore rupees investment in their establishment, highlights the importance that the institute places on R&D and up-skilling it students as per the latest industry standards. PTC is a global software company that delivers a technology platform and solutions to help companies design, manufacture, operate, and service things for a smart, connected world.

Mr. Stephan Helf, Sr. Vice President, PTC Worldwide comments: "This is a great example of the kind of institute and corporate collaboration that is helping to advance technology by enabling world-class research, innovation and workforce development. Our goal is to serve as a catalyst for developing the critical technology needed to solve the many challenges of next-generation mechanical and electronic manufacturing.

Besides this, 2 other laboratories have also been developed.  Robotics Lab is being established in association with Delta Electronics; and Automation Lab is in association with Janatics. These new labs expands the scope of collaboration between NIET and the above mentioned MNCs to include the development of new materials that can potentially be used in a variety of mechanical and electronic applications.

"By opening the new Robotics Lab we have taken another step toward making robotic manufacturing in India more competitive at the student level, also enhancing the competitiveness of the entire country," Mr. Anil Chaudhry, Director – Delta Electronics pointed out when talking about the significance of the investment.

An induction ceremony of the labs was held on April 28, 2018. This was attended by Mr. Stephan Helf, Sr. Vice President – PTC Worldwide as Chief Guest and by Mr. Anil Chaudhry, Director – Delta Electronics and Mr. Kamal Batra, Director – PTC University as Guest of Honour and Special Guest respectively.  In addition, Dr. O. P. Agarwal, Managing Director - NIET, Dr. Neema Agarwal, Additional Managing Director - NIET, Mr. Raman Batra, Executive Vice President - NIET, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Director - NIET, along with all the HODs were present for the event.

Kamal Batra, Director – PTC University stressed that: "PTC is committed to education industry with high added value. It is a great honour for our organization that NIET has decided to develop this smart manufacturing lab for the enhancement of students beyond the regular curriculum. We value this commitment of the institute and hence are sponsoring Rs. 24 crore out of Rs. 30 crore in this new project.”
