NIET Greater Noida wins Grand Finale of SIH 2019

Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2019, World’s Largest Digital Building Contest was conducted in Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology, Greater Noida on 2nd & 3rd March, 2019. NIET has been chosen for the second consecutive year to host this grand event. This year the event was conducted at 48 nodal centers all across India, of which, 6 nodal centers were shortlisted from Uttar Pradesh and NIET was proud to be one of them. In the Valedictory ceremony, Dr. Sarojini Agarwal welcomed everyone and reiterated a unique initiative of our honorable PM’s vision of identifying new and disruptive digital technology innovations for solving the challenges faced by different government and private organizations. The two days event was graced by the presence of Dr. Mahendra Singh, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Govt. of UP; Dr.O.P Agarwal-Managing Director-NIET; Dr. Neema Agarwal-Additional Managing Director- NIET, Greater Noida; Mr. Bijesh Kumar- Nodal Centre Officer (AICTE); Mr. Aditya Ghildiyal, President Greater Noida Industries;Dr. R K Ranjan –Director (NIET), Jury of veterans, Deans, HODs ,faculties and students.

Dr. Mahendra Singh –Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Govt. of UP (chief guest) handed over the winning trophy along with the 75000 /-winning amounts to the winners. Total 6 Problem statements; 2 from Pepperfry and 4 from Future Generali were identified for the solutions at NIET, Greater Noida. Team JOBLESS _CODERS from Kalyani Government Engineering College – Kalyani ( West Bengal) and STAR_CODER_42!! from Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of technology- Hyderabad were declared the winners for the Pepperfry problem statements. On the other hand VENCODER from ABESIT-Ghaziabad , FINITE LOOPS from Sardar Patel Institute of Technology- Mumbai; T-star-A from Jaypee Institute of Information and Technology- Noida; 4O4_Found from MIT( World Peace University)-PUNE bagged the prize for Future generali Life Insurance problem statements.

SIH 2019 is a platform for students to showcase their talents by solving the critical problems, and come up with their optimum solutions, thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem solving. The students would have the opportunity to work on the challenges faced within the private sector organizations and create world class solutions for some of the top companies in the world. Meticulous arrangements have been made for the teams at NIET. This year it was bigger and better with the participation of 1300 plus teams all across India. Out of which 21 teams has participated in NIET campus itself. This year the enthusiasm and zeal was high as 52000 entries came from over 34000 teams, and 2 lakh plus students enrolled for participation in the event in comparison to 17400 entries made last year.

Smart India Hackathon 2019 successfully came to its closure with vote of thanks by Dr. Praveen Pachauri (Director Project and Planning-NIET) SPOC. He also appreciated the hard work done by participants who had put into 36 long hour coding at Hackathon
