Wipro GE Healthcare has unveiled the Versana Premier R3, an AI-powered ultrasound system designed to improve clinical efficiency and diagnostic accuracy. The system is part of the company’s commitment to the ‘Make in India’ initiative and will be manufactured at its PLI factory in Bengaluru.
The Versana Premier R3 is an advanced ultrasound system that integrates artificial intelligence to enhance workflow automation, imaging precision, and clinical efficiency. It is built to reduce administrative burden, assist clinicians with volume calculations, and optimize dynamic tissue imaging. The device also features a self-learning onboarding tool, enabling medical professionals to improve their skills and adapt to new workflows efficiently.
Additionally, the ‘VisionBoost architecture’ and an 8-million-channel digital processing system deliver exceptional image clarity. With compatibility for 23 different probes, the system allows dynamic scanning of various organs, further enhancing diagnostic capabilities.
As part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) initiative, the Versana Premier R3 will be manufactured at Wipro GE Healthcare’s PLI factory in Bengaluru. The company has been a strong advocate for local manufacturing, with other ‘Made in India’ medical products, such as the Revolution Aspire CT system and the Optima IGS320 AI-enabled Cath Lab, already in production.
Wipro GE Healthcare announced the Versana Premier R3 on March 4, 2025. This launch comes at a crucial time when India's healthcare sector is witnessing increased adoption of AI-powered solutions. According to a PwC report, 57% of healthcare providers in India are already using AI, significantly higher than the global average.
With India’s growing population and rising cases of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), such as diabetes and cardiovascular issues, the demand for accurate and efficient diagnostic tools is higher than ever. The Versana Premier R3 aims to bridge this gap by enabling faster and more precise medical diagnoses.
The integration of AI also helps reduce the burden on healthcare professionals by automating repetitive tasks, allowing them to focus on critical patient care. By enhancing image clarity and improving diagnostic precision, this system empowers clinicians to make faster and better-informed decisions, ultimately leading to improved patient outcomes.
Wipro GE Healthcare has been actively investing in local manufacturing and R&D. The company recently announced an INR 8000 crore investment in manufacturing and research & development over the next five years. This initiative will bolster India’s medical technology sector and contribute to reducing dependency on imports.
The launch of Versana Premier R3 aligns with India’s healthcare transformation goals, ensuring advanced medical solutions are both accessible and affordable. By providing state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, the company aims to strengthen India’s healthcare infrastructure and improve the quality of care for millions of patients.
With AI-driven innovation and a strong focus on ‘Make in India’, the Versana Premier R3 is set to revolutionize ultrasound diagnostics, making healthcare more efficient, precise, and patient-centric.
