Truecaller has nnounced a new AI-powered call-blocking feature, which could be a game-changer for anyone tired of unwanted calls. By leveraging advanced artificial intelligence technology, Truecaller brings a host of benefits to users, enhancing their overall calling experience. One of the primary advantages is reduced interruptions, as spam calls can be blocked before they even ring, preventing disruptions during work hours, relaxation time, or important moments. This feature also increases productivity, allowing users to stay focused without wasting time on unwanted calls. Additionally, AI-powered call blocking enhances security by helping to identify potential scam calls that may attempt to steal personal information or money. This improves peace of mind by reducing stress and annoyance and gives users greater control over their phones, empowering them to decide who gets through. Moreover, this feature can lead to lower phone bills for users, as reducing the number of spam calls answered may result in decreased call charges, depending on their phone plan. Overall, Truecaller's AI-powered call-blocking feature is a significant step towards a more seamless and secure communication experience for users.

The decision comes after the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recently recommended a new caller ID called Calling Name Presentation (CNAP), which, like Truecaller, allows consumers to see the caller's name and may potentially warn them of scam calls. While CNAP may compete with Truecaller, network providers, including Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone Idea, have objected to the function, claiming it might compromise subscriber data privacy.

How to Enable the Truecaller New Function?

The 'Max' function, which is presently accessible on the Android version of the app, works by blocking calls from those not on your list of allowed contacts. If a phone number is not in Truecaller's database, the company will utilise artificial intelligence to identify whether the call is spam. Previously, the app relied on its millions of phone numbers database to match and detect spam calls. However, it can prevent calls from unknown numbers and non-spammers.

The new AI-powered tool is now only available to Truecaller Premium subscribers who use an Android handset. This is because, unlike Google, Apple does not enable caller ID services like Truecaller to identify and ban spam calls. The firm is experimenting with techniques to improve spam call prevention without requiring users to change any in-app settings.

To enable the new function and protect yourself from spam calls, launch Truecaller on your phone, go to 'Settings,' and press 'Block.' On the screen that appears, adjust the degree of protection to 'Max,' and you're done.
