The Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) of Singapore has signed a contract with Oracle to implement an Oracle Cloud Isolated Region for the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). The contract was officially announced on 19 March 2025. With this collaboration, DSTA aims to enhance its cloud security, data management, and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities within Singapore’s defence infrastructure.
The agreement is between DSTA and Oracle Corporation, with direct benefits extending to MINDEF and the SAF. The Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS) will utilize Oracle’s air-gapped cloud services to support SAF’s mission-critical applications.
The Oracle Cloud Isolated Region will be deployed within Singapore, providing a sovereign, highly secure, and scalable cloud environment for the nation’s defence operations.
The Oracle Cloud Isolated Region offers a hyperscale, air-gapped cloud infrastructure that is completely disconnected from the internet, ensuring higher security, faster decision-making, and improved AI deployment for the SAF. This aligns with Singapore’s goal of strengthening digital resilience and modernizing defence capabilities.
How will this impact Singapore’s Defence Capabilities?
- The SAF will modernize its Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C4) systems for more effective mission planning and execution.
- The air-gapped infrastructure will accelerate AI-driven innovations while ensuring data sovereignty.
- Oracle’s cloud infrastructure will provide high-performance computing with improved scalability and security.
Singapore’s defence sector is embracing digital transformation while ensuring data security and operational efficiency by leveraging Oracle’s secure and sovereign cloud services. The partnership reflects the increasing global demand for advanced cloud solutions in national security.
