Sasken Technologies has completed the acquisition of Borqs International Holding Corp, solidifying its push into the Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G markets.
Sasken finalized the acquisition on April 8, 2025, following its initial announcement in November 2024 to acquire the original design manufacturing (ODM) and software services arm of Borqs Technologies Inc. The deal brings together Sasken’s strong engineering R&D foundation with Borqs’ deep expertise in embedded software, Android-based solutions, and wireless product development.
The acquisition involves two key players in the technology space: Sasken Technologies, known for its chip-to-cognition solutions across sectors like semiconductors, automotive, and telecom; and Borqs Technologies, a global name in IoT software and Android-based connected devices.
As part of the deal, Hareesh Ramana, a founder of Borqs and the current Managing Director of Borqs India, will join Sasken’s leadership team. He will lead the integration of Borqs’ offerings into Sasken’s product and service portfolio.
The move strengthens Sasken’s capability to deliver end-to-end solutions for clients looking to commercialize next-generation connected products. With the integration of Borqs’ technologies and intellectual property, Sasken aims to accelerate its 60x4x3 strategy—focused on scaling its innovation and competitiveness across high-growth areas like IoT, 5G, semiconductors, and consumer electronics.
The synergy will primarily benefit Sasken’s global customer base across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, especially in high-demand verticals like automotive, satellite communications, industrial IoT, and smart consumer devices. Closer to home, the acquisition enhances Sasken’s design capabilities in India and China—where Borqs employs over 300 design engineers.
The acquisition closed on April 8, 2025, following nearly five months of due diligence and strategic planning since the announcement in November 2024.
By combining Borqs's proven ability to build scalable and customizable Android-based devices with Sasken’s rich engineering services, the merged entity can offer faster, more secure, and cost-effective solutions in the connected devices space. It also enhances Sasken’s relevance in the fast-evolving 5G landscape.
Commenting on the integration, Hareesh Ramana said, “Joining forces with Sasken gives us the strategic scale and alignment needed to accelerate innovation in connected devices, IoT, and 5G. Together, we are poised to deliver greater value to customers and partners.”
This acquisition marks a strategic turning point for Sasken Technologies as it looks to scale its global footprint and deepen its presence in high-tech industries. With Borqs’ IP, engineering talent, and Android expertise now in-house, Sasken is set to play a bigger role in shaping the future of IoT and 5G-enabled devices worldwide.
