The National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) partners with Oracle to launch Project Vidya on 6th February 2025. The initiative aligns with the Government's Skill India Mission and aims to train 500,000 Indian youths in digital technologies like AI, ML, data science, cloud computing, cybersecurity, etc. by 2028. The training will be delivered by Oracle University, Oracle's training and enablement service provider, Project Vidya will provide learners with training and certification in key digital skills to equip them with essential skills for tomorrow's technology-driven careers.
As part of the mission, Oracle also announced Oracle University is collaborating with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to train 100,000 youth and professionals from diverse educational backgrounds, including engineering, arts, and science to better prepare them for employment opportunities.
While speaking to the media NSDC informed that so far, over 80,000 students have been trained and certified under Project Vidya by Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) under the state’s Naan Mudhalvan programme.
“Training and education are important pillars that contribute to economic development. With India being home to the world’s youngest population, the opportunity for our youth is huge,” said Shailender Kumar, senior vice president and regional managing director, Oracle India and NetSuite JAPAC. “Through Project Vidya and by training our youth in modern technologies like cloud and AI, we believe we can make a significant contribution towards nation building and economic growth. Our collaborations with NSDC and TNSDC will provide essential and vital skills to our future digital economy. We are looking forward to expanding the reach of the programme and collaborating with states and skilling organisations across India.”
Oracle MyLearn, the extensive training and enablement platform from Oracle University that is utilized by millions of students worldwide, will be used to offer Project Vidya as a digital learning experience. In addition to professional-level training and certifications in fields like DevOps, AI, applications business processes, application development, and data science, the program will provide students with rigorous foundational training in cloud technologies. Additional training will be selected on an individual basis based on learning objectives and learning levels.
In terms to enable cloud technology training and certification globally, Oracle University has provided access to some of the top technology practitioners and experts in the world. The program has trained over 3.1 million Oracle certified professionals in the global workforce, including India, and more than 20 million hours of Oracle University learning content have been accessed by students worldwide.
