The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), through the National eGovernance Division (NeGD), has developed Entity Locker, a digital public infrastructure platform designed to streamline the management and verification of business documents. Entity Locker aims at catering to an immense set of entities-MSME, corporations, start-ups, trusts, and societies-that resonate with the idea of Digital Public Infrastructure by India's Union Budget 2024-25.
Key Features of Entity Locker
- Real-Time Document Access and Verification: Seamless integration with government databases allows instant access and authentication.
- Secure Cloud Storage: Offers 10 GB of encrypted storage for document management.
- Digital Signature Authentication: Facilitates legally valid digital signatures for document validation.
- Role-Based Access Management: Ensures accountability via Aadhaar-based authentication.
- Consent-Based Sharing: Provides a secure mechanism for sharing sensitive information.
By combining these advanced features, Entity Locker reduces administrative overhead, accelerates processes, and boosts operational efficiency.
Government System Integration
The platform seamlessly connects with systems such as the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN), and the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), ensuring businesses have instant access to essential documents while simplifying compliance procedures.
Use Cases
Entity Locker supports vendor verification, loan applications, compliance with FSSAI regulations, corporate annual filings, and many other applications. The ability to track all the document-related activities fully opens up the scope of accountably and transparency.
Part of the Digital India Programme
Entity Locker is part of the government’s broader Digital India initiative, reflecting its commitment to leveraging technology for improving business processes and fostering economic growth. The phased implementation will include further integrations with additional government platforms.
