Mahindra Group has officially launched a new artificial intelligence (AI) division aimed at streamlining AI efforts across its various business sectors, including automotive, real estate, and hospitality. This new initiative reflects Mahindra’s commitment to embedding advanced technologies into its operations to drive efficiency, innovation, and business growth. The division, designed to consolidate AI initiatives that were previously spread across different group companies, will centralize efforts and allow for more cohesive AI integration.

Bhuwan Lodha, who formerly led the digital operations in Mahindra’s automotive division, will head this AI unit. Lodha noted that AI projects within the group had often been side projects for IT teams, but now the aim is to bring these initiatives into the mainstream. He emphasised that the newly-formed division would focus on creating customised AI solutions for each of Mahindra’s businesses, leveraging internal talent and expertise from Tech Mahindra, the group’s IT services arm, to bring these AI efforts to fruition.

The AI division will not only foster internal collaboration but will also look outward for innovation, tapping into global advancements from startups, universities, and external partnerships. The goal is to enhance operations within Mahindra’s core industries such as automotive, real estate, and hospitality, but also to support broader digital transformation efforts across all group companies.

Lodha highlighted that the division will focus heavily on talent development, providing career paths for AI specialists within the Mahindra Group. This move aligns with the broader trend of Indian conglomerates investing in AI technologies to remain competitive and boost operational capabilities. By developing AI-driven solutions, Mahindra aims to unlock new efficiencies and bring smarter, data-driven innovations to its sectors.

This initiative follows a larger pattern seen across the Indian corporate landscape, where other major players, such as Reliance and TCS, are also investing heavily in AI. With its new AI division, Mahindra Group hopes to position itself as a leader in AI adoption, with a clear focus on making AI integral to its future growth and success across all sectors.
