Traditionally known for its stellar track record in producing top-tier engineering talent coveted by leading companies worldwide, IIT Bombay reportedly has been unable to place as many as 36 percent of its graduates as per media reports. “Almost 36% students who registered for placement at IIT  Bombay are yet to find jobs. This is the situation in a premium institution. Now imagine the placement condition in regional engineering colleges, state and private engineering colleges,” said a concerned tweet from a user called Abdur Rahman on the matter.

“It's tough to digest that 36% students of latest batch at IIT Bombay fail to get placed. You get IITis with the help of reservation, but you don't get placement that's why study more,” said another user called Devan Thakur. Reports on this downturn in placements prompted a wave of introspection and concern among students and faculty members.
