India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) and Singapore Semiconductor Industries Association (SSIA) have formed a strategic partnership to strengthen the semiconductor ecosystem in both countries. The collaboration aims to foster growth in areas like skill development, job creation, manufacturing, research, and supply chain management.
The partnership was announced during the Semiconductor Business Connect 2024 conference in Singapore. Both associations will work together to identify business opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and conduct a joint study on the semiconductor landscape in India and Singapore.
A business delegation from Singapore is expected to visit India in August 2024 to explore further collaboration opportunities.
Key highlights of the partnership:
- Skill development: Joint initiatives to enhance the semiconductor workforce in both countries.
- Job creation: Collaboration to create employment opportunities in the semiconductor sector.
- Manufacturing: Boosting semiconductor manufacturing capabilities in India and Singapore.
- Research: Promoting joint research and development projects.
- Supply chain: Strengthening the semiconductor supply chain between the two nations.
This partnership is expected to contribute significantly to the growth of the semiconductor industry in India and Singapore.
Dr. V Veerappan, Chairman, IESA, said, "SSIA has long been acknowledged as a unifying voice for Singapore's semiconductor sector, while IESA's core values emphasize collaborative efforts to nurture the ESDM ecosystem. This partnership aims to harness the abundant opportunities in both nations, fostering resilience and competitiveness in electronics manufacturing."
Ang Wee Seng, Executive Director, SSIA, expressed, "Collaborating with IESA is a significant step forward as we harness Singapore's dynamic electronics and semiconductor ecosystem to develop globally significant products and services. We are confident that by working closely with industry and academia in both countries, we can strengthen our global footprint in the semiconductor sector, including supporting opportunities in India."
Ashok Chandak, President, IESA, remarked, "This transformative partnership unites two premier industry bodies, encompassing vast networks of semiconductor companies and experts across both nations. It marks a pivotal moment in IESA's strategy to bolster global cooperation, capitalize on India's opportunities, and cultivate a flourishing ecosystem.
