The EBG Federation released its Position Paper 2025 recently, presenting a consolidated set of policy recommendations designed to support India’s economic priorities and advance India–Europe economic collaboration. Drawing on insights from seventeen sector committees and the operational experience of European companies in India, the paper outlines targeted measures to enhance regulatory clarity, investment predictability, and technology-driven competitiveness.
Sector-wide insights shaped by industry experience
The Position Paper 2025 provides a comprehensive assessment across key sectors, including manufacturing, energy transition, healthcare and medical devices, pharmaceuticals, defence and aerospace, mobility and automotive, aviation, financial services, digital infrastructure, retail and FMCG, chemicals, logistics and maritime, agriculture and food systems, R&D and innovation, skilling, taxation and compliance, and sustainability. Across these domains, it distils industry-grounded experience into actionable enablers such as streamlined regulatory pathways, harmonised standards aligned with global benchmarks, transparent procurement and certification systems, strengthened incentives for R&D and local manufacturing, and expanded digital architectures to facilitate compliance and trade.
Europe remains one of India’s most significant economic partners, and the Position Paper 2025 underscores the importance of deepening structured collaboration at a time when global supply chains, capital flows, and technology ecosystems are undergoing rapid transformation. It identifies substantial opportunities for India and Europe to accelerate co-innovation, mobilise long-term investment in clean energy and strategic manufacturing, reinforce supply-chain resilience through predictable policy frameworks, and cultivate advanced talent capabilities aligned with future-ready manufacturing and digital services.
Collaboration, continuity, and shared ambition
Reflecting on the environment in which the paper has been developed, Raman Singh Sidhu cited: “Now in our 26th year of existence, EBG has been a trusted voice bridging European FDI in India and existing Indian investment policy. By bringing together these European corporates and Indian policymakers across 17 sectors, we continue to demonstrate the strength of collaboration in action. The success of the Annual Position Paper 2025 will continue to reflect the dedication of our corporate member sponsors, and other members, technical partners, and our sector committees whose support has been invaluable. I am proud of what we have achieved together and confident of the future we are helping to shape.”
Serving as a key reference for ministries, regulatory authorities, diplomatic missions, and industry leaders shaping India–Europe economic priorities, the Position Paper 2025 will guide EBG’s policy engagements through 2026. It will support dialogue on manufacturing competitiveness, digital and sustainability standards, and long-term investment pathways essential to India’s next phase of growth. In doing so, it reinforces EBG’s role as a trusted industry voice facilitating structured engagement, evidence-based policy conversations, and sustained alignment between India’s strategic ambitions and European industry expertise.
