The Department of Posts (DoP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Esri India Technologies, a leading Geographic Information System (GIS) solutions provider, to enhance its DIGIPIN portal.

Through this collaboration, DoP will gain access to Esri India’s high-resolution imagery and street basemaps, while DIGIPIN will also be integrated with Esri India’s Living Atlas portal, making it accessible to the wider GIS community. Esri India will provide technical support to ensure the smooth integration of services.

The partnership aims to strengthen DIGIPIN’s role as a robust, citizen-friendly digital addressing system by combining DoP’s extensive postal network with Esri India’s advanced mapping technology.

“This collaboration with Esri India marks a major step forward in realising the vision of the DIGIPIN initiative,” said Harpreet Singh, Member (Operations), DoP. “With Esri’s robust basemaps and geospatial technology, DIGIPIN will empower citizens and government services with accuracy and accessibility.”

Echoing this, Agendra Kumar, Managing Director, Esri India, said, “We are proud to collaborate with the Department of Posts on this landmark initiative. The MoU was formalised at Dak Bhawan, New Delhi, and represents a significant move toward strengthening digital infrastructure and enhancing service delivery across the country.
