Commvault has announced plans to acquire Satori Cyber, a data and AI security company. The acquisition will bolster Commvault’s growing capabilities in helping enterprises secure structured data and manage compliance challenges amid rapid AI adoption and cloud sprawl.
As organisations grapple with the exponential growth of data, increasing regulatory pressures, and widespread adoption of generative AI, ensuring secure access to sensitive information has become a top priority. Satori’s technology addresses this need by providing real-time, agentless controls and detailed visibility into structured and AI training data, including data activity monitoring and prompt protection for large language models (LLMs).
The integration of Satori’s tools will expand Commvault’s cyber resilience platform, adding support for structured data across multi-cloud environments like Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric. Combined with Commvault’s existing discovery and classification capabilities for unstructured data, this acquisition enables a comprehensive approach to sensitive data governance.
According to Commvault’s Chief Product Officer Rajiv Kottomtharayil, the move supports secure data access, AI governance, and policy enforcement across modern platforms, essential for reducing risk and driving innovation in compliance-heavy environments.
Satori CEO Eldad Chai emphasised that the deal offers customers a unified solution for managing data risk, streamlining compliance, and securing AI pipelines, from discovery and access control to recovery.
Industry analysts have also welcomed the acquisition. IDC Group VP of Security and Trust, Frank Dickson, noted that Satori’s multi-cloud data activity monitoring and AI-aware protection capabilities will strengthen Commvault’s position in helping enterprises manage evolving AI-related security and privacy risks.
The acquisition, expected to close by August 2025, is part of Commvault’s broader strategy to integrate advanced AI security capabilities into its cloud-native offerings. It aligns with the company’s mission to deliver robust cyber resilience solutions at scale while maintaining cost efficiency.
Once integrated, Satori’s data security tools will allow enterprises to proactively discover, classify, and protect data before it is misused, ensuring a safer path for AI transformation.
