At WebexOne 2025, Cisco announced that it will extend Webex Calling availability in India by hosting services in local data centres. Businesses can now connect to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) through licensed Indian telecom providers such as Airtel and Tata Teleservices.
This integration, delivered via the Cloud Connect for Webex Calling service, allows service providers to directly connect with the Webex platform in India. The result is faster provisioning, reduced infrastructure costs, and accelerated migration to the cloud.
Organisations also gain the flexibility to retain their existing numbers when moving from on-premises setups to cloud-based PSTN. Cisco will additionally introduce Webex Calling Customer Assist in India, enabling employees to support customers directly with AI-driven tools inside the Webex app.
Webex Contact Centre comes to India in 2026
Cisco confirmed it will roll out Webex Contact Centre services from a dedicated Mumbai data centre in Q2 2026. This offering will give enterprises access to a secure, high-performance cloud platform designed for large-scale customer engagement.
The service will feature AI-powered assistants, workforce optimisation tools, and campaign management, along with seamless digital channel integration. Webex AI Agent will provide natural voice and digital interactions, delivering real-time responses and automated first contact for customer queries.
A focus on security and compliance
Daisy Chittilapilly, President of Cisco India & SAARC, emphasised the importance of aligning with local telecom and data regulations. “As Indian enterprises accelerate their journey to cloud collaboration and AI-powered customer experiences, Cisco is committed to enabling that shift with a secure, scalable and future-ready collaboration platform,” she said.
By hosting services locally, Cisco aims to lower latency, improve call quality, and meet India’s privacy and compliance requirements. The company said the investment reflects its commitment to supporting India’s hybrid work evolution with technology that balances flexibility, security, and performance.
Driving cloud adoption in a hybrid era
India’s digital economy is growing rapidly, and enterprises are increasingly looking for solutions that simplify communication while addressing regulatory demands. Cisco’s move positions Webex as a strategic enabler for organisations that want to scale collaboration tools without heavy infrastructure investments.
With dedicated data centres, AI-powered capabilities, and integration with local telecom providers, Cisco is betting on India’s appetite for secure and cloud-first collaboration platforms.
