In memory of the late Cheistha Kochhar, daughter of COAI Director General Retd. Lt. General S.P. Kochhar, a bright intellect and dedicated public servant, Centre for Digital Economy Policy Research has instituted Cheistha Kochhar 'Good Samaritan Award'. Having left for her PhD at the London School of Economics, the untimely death of Cheistha was a great loss.
In memory of her service and compassion, the C-DEP has offered this award for service distinguished by an extraordinary contribution to society. Financial support, resources, and a platform for its recipients to increase their impact will be provided through the award.
A Homage to a Visionary
Cheistha Kochhar was a pioneer in behavioral science; her work with NITI Aayog and other leading institutions had a huge impact on public policy. Her enthusiasm for improving the quality of life with insights from the behavioral sciences was more than palpable in the various efforts she has undertaken.
Inspired by Kochhar's social commitment, the Cheistha Kochhar Good Samaritan Award will provide financial support, resources, and a platform to individuals undertaking impactful social work. The awardees will get a monthly honorarium of ₹10,000 for one year besides mentorship and opportunities for sharing their work.
Nominations for this award will be open to any Indian citizen who demonstrates a consistent commitment to the cause of societal upliftment; an esteemed jury will select the awardee.
C-DEP feels that an award of this kind would not only pay due tributes to the memory of Cheistha Kochhar, but it will further inspire many more to become the agents of change.
