Tel Aviv, Israel-based, Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., provider of cybersecurity solutions, has opened its first Asia-Pacific Research & Development (R&D) Centre in Bengaluru, India. The decision reflects the company's interest in advancing cybersecurity innovation while accessing India's deep pool of technology talent.
Deepening Global Cybersecurity Innovation
The new R&D Center, announced in Check Point's CPX Bangkok 2025 conference, will be dedicated to the development and improvement of Check Point's premier cybersecurity products. Among its focus areas for innovation will be Check Point Quantum, Check Point's enterprise-level network security solution, and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), a technology combining network security and wide-area networking (WAN) functionality.
SASE is more and more vital to companies as they move toward cloud-based operations. Check Point's SASE next-generation network will provide enterprise-scale, elastic expansion and integrate into its global full mesh security architecture, which already covers more than 80 worldwide points of presence (PoPs). The addition will provide enhanced, secure high-performance connectivity for businesses globally.
AI-Driven Threat Prevention and Advanced Security
The Bengaluru R&D Centre will also be instrumental in driving AI-based threat prevention and next-gen cyber defense offerings. As cyber attacks continue to evolve, Check Point will look to enhance its security management improvements using artificial intelligence and machine learning. The centre will enable the creation of sophisticated security technologies to protect enterprises from emerging cyber threats, among other applications.
Investment in Talent and Infrastructure
The new R&D Centre will be located at Check Point's 42,700-square-foot Bengaluru office, which was launched last year and is the firm's second-largest in the world after its headquarters in Tel Aviv, Israel. The centre will initially host more than 100 engineers but can scale depending on business requirements, a move which shows Check Point's commitment to India's cyber ecosystem for the long haul.
Rajeev Koripalli has been made Vice President of Research & Development, India. With leadership tenure at Cisco Systems, Juniper Networks, and Nokia, Rajeev will lead Check Point's innovation charge in India, driving the R&D team toward innovative security solutions.
Positioning India as a Cybersecurity Hub
With this investment, we are not just growing our presence but also building the groundwork for future-gen security innovations that will serve customers globally," added Ruma Balasubramanian, APAC & Japan President at Check Point Software Technologies. "This move also reinforces the nation as a central pillar of global cybersecurity and digital innovation.
Nataly Kremer, Check Point's Chief Product Officer, highlighted the importance of the Bengaluru R&D Centre within the overall strategy of the company. "As cyber threats become increasingly sophisticated, this team will be at the forefront of creating next-generation security solutions, keeping customers safe with leading-edge technology."
A Future-Ready Cybersecurity Landscape
With the Bengaluru R&D Centre intended to function as a center for cybersecurity research and AI-powered security solutions, Check Point's growth heralds a strategic plan to enhance digital resilience across the globe. Relying on India's increasing cybersecurity capabilities, the company plans to strengthen businesses against emerging cyber threats while enhancing the digital economy of the country.
