The partnership aims to close the gap between AI research capabilities and practical business use. While many organisations experimented with AI in previous years, 2026 is emerging as a period of practical application. Capgemini research indicates that more than half of organisations now commit to multi-year AI investment cycles, shifting focus from small trials to long-term value.

Bridging the Deployment Gap

Leaders frequently cite data readiness, governance, and organisational systems as primary obstacles to scaling AI. This alliance combines Capgemini’s industry-specific knowledge and data governance assets with OpenAI’s research and product stack, including enterprise AI cloud services and multi-agent workflows.

Brad Lightcap, Chief Operating Officer at OpenAI, stated that the collaboration will help bring AI coworkers to businesses by combining OpenAI’s technology with Capgemini’s global delivery experience. Capgemini CEO Aiman Ezzat noted that the collaboration allows the firm to build solutions that were previously not possible.

Industry-Specific Solutions

Capgemini will establish a dedicated delivery function of certified AI professionals. This group will work with OpenAI’s Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) teams to support clients in moving from experimentation to production. The partners will co-develop bespoke solutions for several sectors:

  • Consumer Products & Retail: Streamlining supply chains and customer interactions.

  • Financial Services: Automating risk assessment and compliance reporting.

  • Life Sciences: Accelerating research and clinical data management.

  • Energy and Utilities: Managing grid operations and predictive maintenance.

Growth and Market Context

The move follows Capgemini's 2025 financial performance, where the group reported global revenues of EURO 22.5 billion. With a workforce of over 420,000 employees across 50 countries, the firm is positioning itself to manage the "year of truth for AI." Capgemini research shows that while 38% of organisations already use generative AI, 60% are now exploring agentic AI applications.

As enterprises face pressure to scale or risk losing competitive standing, the Frontier Alliance provides the technical infrastructure and implementation support required to embed AI into the fabric of daily business tasks.
