Amazon India Sends Fake iPhone 15 Says Customer, Return Initiated after Furor

In a bizarre incident, a customer claimed on Twitter that he received a fake iPhone 15 from a seller on Amazon India. The product turned out to be counterfeit, and the customer, also a popular influencer known as Gabbar, realized this when the phone's features, particularly the camera, malfunctioned. He promptly took to Twitter to share his experience.

"Waah Amazon India delivered a Fake iPhone 15. Seller is Appario. Tagged with 'Amazon choice.' No cable in the box. Total Dabba. Has anyone faced a similar issue?" he asked on Twitter, prompting several users to share their experiences. Customers also complained that returning such products and obtaining refunds was extremely challenging, as sellers often refused returns.

What Amazon India Had to Say About the Issue

After the post garnered nearly 760 reposts and 7000 likes, Amazon India responded to the customer, saying, "We're sorry to know that you received an incorrect product in the package. Kindly fill in your details, we'll get back to you with an update in 6-12 hours."

They further acknowledged the customer, stating, "Thank you for confirming. Please wait for 6-12 hours, and our Social Media team will get back to you with a resolution via email. Your patience is appreciated."

Amazon India Accepts Return

The customer has now updated that Amazon India has accepted the return after the post went viral and received a lot of traction. "Update: This tweet got some traction. Delivery guy came for picking up. Checked the pack, fiddled around, and said this can’t be returned. Then he made some phone calls. After some coercing, the item has been picked up for return. Fingers crossed for a refund," he said. 

"Return picked up successfully for Apple iPhone 15 (512 GB) - Black. We'll notify once refund is initiated," said a message from the ecommerce site to the customer, according to the screenshots shared by him on Twitter.
