Accenture has acquired IAMConcepts, a Canadian company specialising in identity and access management (IAM) services, in a move to expand its cybersecurity presence across Canada’s critical infrastructure sectors.
Headquartered in Toronto, IAMConcepts provides end-to-end IAM services including Identity Governance and Administration, Privileged Access Management, and Customer Identity and Access Management. Since its founding in 2013, the company has executed hundreds of IAM projects for some of Canada’s largest banks, insurers, higher education institutions, and utilities.
Expanding expertise for a shifting threat landscape
The acquisition will allow Accenture to scale advanced IAM solutions across industries such as financial services, mining, power utilities, and transportation, areas increasingly targeted by sophisticated cyberattacks.
“As AI accelerates the threat landscape, organisations must rethink their approach to identity security,” said Paolo Dal Cin, global lead, Accenture Cybersecurity. “By combining IAMConcepts’ technical skills and infrastructure expertise with Accenture’s global cybersecurity capabilities, we can deliver a more holistic approach to securing digital identities.”
Accenture’s State of Cybersecurity Resilience 2025 report found that 67% of organisations still rely on legacy IAM systems, creating vulnerabilities in security, scalability, and user experience. The acquisition aims to close this gap by delivering modern, AI-ready IAM solutions.
AI raises stakes for digital identity protection
IAMConcepts CEO Fahad Kabir said the rise of generative AI and agentic systems has dramatically raised the stakes for identity security:
“AI has completely changed the game on both sides of the fight, making robust IAM protections even more critical for business resilience. We are excited to join Accenture to help clients navigate this new era, where cyber threats may no longer just be a person behind a keyboard.”
Kristine Osgoode, Canada lead for Accenture Cybersecurity, added that bolstering IAM capabilities is vital to Canada’s broader digital safety:
“Cyberattacks can have devastating consequences for Canadian organizations and the national economy. Together with IAMConcepts, we’re bringing deeper technical expertise and innovation to help organizations strengthen their digital core and build long-term trust.”
Part of Accenture’s global cybersecurity expansion
The acquisition of IAMConcepts marks the 22nd cybersecurity acquisition by Accenture since 2015, part of its global strategy to expand advanced security services. Recent additions include CyberCX, Morphus, and MNEMO Mexico.
