Advertisment

The company has also decided to continue offering the Dhirubhai Ambani
Pioneer Offer (DAPO) scheme. This is despite the fact that the Telecom
Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had asked Reliance in mid-June to withdraw
the scheme. Company officials say that TRAI’s order has been complied with as
the original DAPO has been withdrawn. At present, the Reliance ‘IndiaMobile’
service is commercially available in around 200 cities. The service is supported
by over 250 web worlds and retail stores. The company recently introduced two
interactive mobile applications, "City Guide" and "TV
Guide", in six cities - Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and
Mumbai - and has plans to extend it to 50 cities in the coming months. Reliance
Infocomm is planning to launch its prepaid services by August this year.
