'NetScaler will let us expand into the high-growth Web app market'

How will Netscaler help the Citrix access platform and
enhance present server deployments?

Citrix purchased NetScaler to expand into an adjacent, high-growth market,
intending to add a new solution to the Citrix access platform rather than making
the Citrix Presentation Server better. The NetScaler application delivery
product line helps bring application fluency or application intelligence to the
customer's underlying network. NetScaler's optimization technology is
critical to delivering Web applications to an increasingly mobile workforce
around the world. With applications becoming more secured and data centers
getting consolidated, customers need solutions that solve application
performance issues through intelligence rather through conventional methods of
adding bandwidth and server capacity. With NetScaler, Citrix gets an instant
market entry into the network stack, enabling customers to deploy optimized Web
applications immediately.

What value will this add to Citrix's Indian customers and
which companies (competitors) will it hurt?

Given that Indian enterprises are investing heavily into IT in order to
scale their operations, we see many customers deploying more and more Web
applications. The new architecture with the Citrix NetScaler product line will
help optimize Web applications by bringing application performance and
end-to-end security while reducing server and bandwidth costs. We believe many
aging Alteon installations will be replaced by the Citrix NetScaler solution.

What would be the merger pains like-as regards to
integration of products and platforms, strategy, and business synergy?

I believe the biggest challenge will be our ability to scale the operations
while introducing the NetScaler product line to the well-oiled Citrix sales
engine. We are evaluating the strengths of Citrix's 7,000 channel partners and
we are developing strategies to integrate the NetScaler products quickly, but in
a controlled manner.

What is the future of NetScaler's products?

We will continue to build, innovate and enhance the NetScaler product line
as per market needs. NetScaler products are heavily used in Internet-centric
businesses, medium-to- large enterprises, and managed service providers. All
three of these markets are growing quickly and they are expected to contribute
significantly to the $2 bn addressable market by 2008-2009. With Citrix's
reach around the world and our technology leadership and history of innovation,
we are well positioned to continue to be a market leader. We will be investing
heavily in R&D in both US and India, and acquire new technologies that will
help accelerate product releases based on our customer requirements.
