New Update

The pride in holding a job at Infosys had taken a dip recently while NRN was away. Now that he's back, the software industry expects a higher number of job applicants across profiles.

The number of applicants at Infosys has reduced from over 8 lakhs in FY 11 to 379000 in FY13. Some argue that it's for the want of a better work environment where employees feel more challenged and independent, and that self-actualization is the key to make employees happy.

Infosys' recent partnership with IP Soft suggests that repetitive tasks will gradually be handled with automation. "Raise the level of involvement and the quality will go up, rather than constantly doing repetitive tasks," reveals Chandrashekhar Kakal, Senior Vice President and Global Head of Business IT Services (BITS).

Now that Murthy is back with the announcement of an 8% average wage hike, brand 'Infosys' seems like a a better prospect and job applications are pouring in again. Kelly Services predicts a 20% increase in applications. "Infosys may not demand so many employees but it will see at least a 20% increase in inbound resumes, specially at lower levels and the middle management," an Economic Times report quotes Surabhi Mathur Gandhi, senior vice-president of TeamLease.
