At a time when the PC market is grappling with a slowdown, Iris Computers managed to retain its growth momentum. Chairman Sanjiv Krishen elaborates on what has helped the company survive in these tough market conditions.
"We are fuelling the market by working along with our partners and extending credit to execute large orders," says Krishen. Last financial year Iris crossed a turnover of Rs. 1,100 crore and this year despite the impending slowdown it has crossed Rs. 1,600 crore.
The company was able to achieve this by moving into new areas. It has been working in partnership with system integrators and providers like HCL, Vyamtech, and Corporate Infotech that provide computer systems to state governments under the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) project, which is part of the National e-Governance Plan of the Government of India. An allocation of Rs. 2000 crore has been made for the project. The idea is to make the Police more citizen-friendly and transparent by automating systems. Iris Computers has delivered computer systems worth Rs.100 crore to State Governments of UP, Nagaland and Orissa under CCTNS.
"We get the orders despite stiff competition from our competitors because we are flexible, responsive and more accessible," asserts Krishen. Iris Computers has also executed orders for over Rs. 100 crore for Samsung LFD (Large Format Display) monitors and many other leading products from Samsung.
