National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), a not-for-profit organization under section 8 of the Companies Act 2013, today held its 18th Annual General Meeting with Chairman Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY), New Delhi.

While addressing the members of NIXI, at its 18th AGM, Ajay Prakash Sawhney, Chairman NIXI and Secretary MeitY mentioned that “As enterprises rapidly rethink how to leverage technology as they adapt to the future, NIXI will be embracing and adopting new Digital Technologies and transformation at an unprecedented rate for businesses and netizens. NIXI is creating a future-ready infrastructure, this is key to establishing India’s dominance in the Digitally connected world. To meet this aspiration of all stakeholders, NIXI has ambitious plans to make strong infrastructure for network and connectivity.”

The National Internet Exchange of India is a non-profit Company incorporated under Section 25 of the India Companies Act, 1956 with an objective of facilitating improved internet services in the country. It was registered on 19 June 2003. Its Primary purpose is to facilitate exchange of domestic Internet traffic between the peering ISP, Content players and any other organizations with their own AS number. This enables more efficient use of international bandwidth, saving foreign exchange and also improves the Quality of Services (QoS) for Internet users by avoiding multiple international hops and thus reducing latency.
