Meddo Health, which recently partnered with ICMR authorized labs for COVID-19 tests, is now offering free Coronavirus testing in Delhi NCR after the Supreme Court ordered both government and private laboratories to conduct tests for free. The decision to provide free Coronavirus testing has been announced by the founder of Meddo, Saurabh Kocchar.
“Happy to announce that in line with Supreme Court order, we at Meddo have now enabled FREE Coronavirus testing. Pls visit http://meddo.in/covid to book the test! Stay safe all!,” said Saurabh Kocchar on Twitter. “Thank you Dr Dangs Lab & Dr Arjun Dang for supporting us get this out to many many people! Let’s fight this together!” he adds.
Earlier, Meddo was charging Rs 4500 for each Coronavirus test as mandated by the government. However, the apex court yesterday ordered laboratories to offer Coronavirus tests for free to people of the country as “no person should be deprived of the COVID-19 test due to non-payment of Rs 4500.”
The top court also added that private hospitals including laboratories had an important role to play in containing the scale of the pandemic by extending philanthropic services in this hour of national crisis. SC said that whether private laboratories conducting the COVID-19 tests free of cost will be entitled to any reimbursement for the expenses incurred will be considered later on.
Patients who are suffering from Coronavirus like symptoms can book their free Coronavirus test on the Meddo platform by signing up with their mobile numbers. Furthermore, patients will also have to submit documents for government records such as doctor’s prescription for COVID-19 testing along with doctor’s registration number, duly filled TRF/Patient proforma, and a government photo ID card such as Voter ID card, Aadhaar card or passport.
