MEA Internship 2021: Graduates Can Apply for 3-month Internship with Indian Government, Stipend Rs 10,000

MEA Internship 2021 has been announced for this year, and is open to graduates below 25 years of age who have obtained their degrees from a recognized university or institute. Each intern will be engaged for a period of three months at the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and a maximum of 30 interns will be engaged. The selected interns will also be paid a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000.

The opportunity, which was first spotted by News18, aims at providing interns with an introduction to the process of formulation of foreign policy and its implementation by the Government of India. Interns will be assigned specific topics of work by the concerned department head and will be assigned duties with respect to conducting research, writing reports, and analyzing evolving developments among others.

How Students will be Selected for MEA Internship 2021?

The interested students would be required to apply online before 30 March 2021, and applicants will be selected through preliminary screening and personal interview. The process will follow a ‘quota cum weightage’ system whereby applicants belonging to 14 States and 4 Union Territories will be considered in each term, and 2 interns from each of the 14 States and 2 interns from the 4 Union Territories and 30 to 50 percent women candidates will be selected.

Students will have to register on the MEA internship portal as the selection process will be fully online with applications, scrutiny, selection, allocation of division, and certification being managed by the dedicated MEA portal. Selected interns will have to submit a detailed report on the work carried out could also be asked to make a presentation on it.

Apart from the monthly stipend, applicants selected for the MEA Internship 2021 will also be given a one-time to and fro air travel cost amounting to the prevailing economy class airfare between the State capital and Delhi, from the domicile State or from the college or university.
