Mahindra University Launched: New-age Curricula Consisting of Data Science and Blockchain to be Designed

Mahindra Group today announced the launch of Mahindra University, an autonomous university in Hyderabad for higher education in India

Mahindra University, a Mahindra Group initiative that aims at providing futuristic education in India, has been launched. Mahindra University is sponsored by Mahindra Educational Institutions (MEI), a subsidiary of Tech Mahindra, the flagship IT company of the Mahindra Group. The university will design a new-age curricula that fully leverages emerging technologies like data science, blockchain and data analytics.

“We began our journey in educational philanthropy in 1953 with scholarships to global universities. Building one in India was a dream that came true with the launch of Mahindra University today. We were honoured to receive a message of good wishes from the honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” said Anand Mahindra, Chairman Mahindra Group.

The university will in the near future launch the School of Management, School of Law, Indira Mahindra School of Education, School of Media & Liberal Arts and School of Design. The faculty will be a mix of accomplished Indian and International academicians who hold PhD degrees and pay a high degree of emphasis on research, says Mahindra University. Nearly 4,000 Students and over 300 Faculty members will be in place across the various Schools at Mahindra University over the next five years.

Infusing age-old wisdom with new age tech, the University will open a whole new universe of experimenting and learning for those who love to dream, innovate and make a difference. Welcome to Mahindra University,” said CP Gurnani, managing director and CEO, Tech Mahindra.

The university will be located in Hyderabad, and has been notified by the Government of Telangana vide Telangana Ordinance No. 1 of 2020 dated 20 May 2020 as per the Telangana State Private Universities. While the existing research and innovation centres are Centre for Artificial Intelligence (CAI), Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CIE), and Centre for Sustainable Infrastructure and Systems (CSIS), more centres such as Centre for Computational and Experimental Mechanics (CCEM), Centre for Research in Optics and Photonics (CROP), and Centre for Executive Education (CEE) are being planned.
