PartyGaming Merges with Bwin
PartyGaming and Bwin Interactive Entertainment, Europes two biggest operators
of Internet betting sites plan to merge. With the merger, this will be the
worlds largest publicly traded online gambling company. The deal comes at a
time when a number of governments both in Europe and the United States are
relaxing the rules on online gambling, hoping to tax the activity and use the
revenue to reduce gaping budget shortfalls.
Reliance Infra Merges with GTL
The flagship company of the Anil Ambani group, Reliance Communications (RCom)
will combine its telecom towers business with GTL Infrastructure in a deal that
will create a transmission network valued at Rs 50,000 crore. The union of RCom
unitReliance Infratel and GTLa listed entity promoted by Manoj Tirodkarwill
create the worlds largest independent telecom infrastructure firm, operating
80,000 towers with 1,25,000 tenancies from ten telecom firms.
Yahoo-Bing Alliance
Exactly a year after the Yahoo-Microsoft search alliance was proposed, the
Yahoo-Bing combo has begun unfolding integration results. The initial gains in
the search share in the US market, as shown in the July data from comScore for
both the parties, will further improve with time. For now, all eyes are on the
Bing-Yahoo changeover. With the transition, the company will be totally
dependent on Microsoft Corp.
