EdServ to Buy SmartLearn
EdServ has acquired a Chennai based e-learning portal SmartLearn WebTV, for
about $10 mn. The nine-month-old SmartLearn WebTV, which has about 10,000
enrollments as on date, specializes in e-learning offering for IIT JEE and AIEEE
aspirants. EdServe, which currently offers e-learning courses and online tuition
services for college and school students, will take SmartLearn pan India to rope
in IIT-JEE AIEEE aspirants from across the country for the exams in the next
academic year.
CA to Acquire Nimsoft
CA has signed an agreement to acquire privately-held Nimsoft, a provider of
IT performance and availability monitoring solutions for emerging enterprises
and managed service providers (MSPs) for $350 mn in an all cash deal. The
acquisition significantly extends CAs ability to meet the unique IT management
needs of emerging enterprises and MSPs, both of which are playing leading roles
in the growth of cloud computing.
Springboard Acquires Hydrasight
Springboard Research has acquired Hydrasight, an IT industry analyst firm
based in Australia. The acquisition is effective immediately, with integration
expected to be completed by mid of 2010. Hydrasight business will continue to
operate as usual until the integration is complete. The acquisition is expected
to expand Springboards coverage in the Asia Pacific region and provide services
specifically targeted at enterprise class consumers of technology. Hydrasights
research director, John Brand, will drive a new end user focused capability for
Springboard that will draw upon both the companys strengths.
Minacs Acquires UK BPO
Aditya Birla Minacs has has acquired UK based finance and accounting services
provider, Compass BPO for an undisclosed sum. Through this acquisition, Minacs
will take over all the operations of Compass across the UK, the US, West Asia
and in India, taking Minacs F&A employee strength to 600. The founders of
Compass will join Minacs management. Apart from enabling Aditya Birla Minacs to
scale up its small F&A business, the acquisition also gives it access to a new
set of customers: pubs.
