LinkedIn Layoffs

LinkedIN layoffs have reportedly begun, and fired employees are now writing posts on them being terminated from the company. Microsoft-owned LinkedIn is a popular job-search platform that connects users with recruiters (and vice versa). According to reports, LinkedIn is targeting employees on the recruitment team, although the number of people affected is unknown. LinkedIn layoffs appear part of Microsoft's intention to slash 10,000 positions across multiple organisations. Apart from LinkedIN layoffs, reports also indicate that other Microsoft-owned firms, such as HoloLens and Xbox, are also laying off employees as part of a more comprehensive reorganisation strategy.

Employees Impacted by LinkedIn Layoffs Look for Jobs on the Platform

Meanwhile, several former LinkedIn recruitment team members have resorted to the network to announce their resignations. Nicole Zawacki, an ex-staff member who worked as the "diversity, inclusiveness, and belonging sourcing lead," says that she is one of the impacted workers and that it would take a "little time" to comprehend. She is also utilising the site to find a new job. "Today I'm taking a little time to myself to reflect," Zawacki writes in his article, "but if anybody has any opportunities inside Talent Acquisition or your Diversity team or knows of someone who does, I would genuinely welcome any advice."

Emily Beiers, another devastated employee, turned to LinkedIn to share the news of her layoff. The former technical recruiter said, "My time at LinkedIn has unfortunately ended. A decrease in human resources influences my Technical Recruiter function." Melanie Quandt, a former senior recruiter at LinkedIn, says she has always retained a job in her 25-year career. She adds that she is "very dissatisfied with the meagre perks and severance gave."

LinkedIN Remains Top-rated Social Media Platform for Professionals

During this economic downturn, LinkedIn has unexpectedly become a top-rated social media platform for computer employees, as seen by the data. SimilarWeb discovered that monthly traffic to LinkedIn increased by more than 60% from January 2020 to January 2023 and 17% from December 2022 to January 2023. Last quarter, LinkedIn reported record user engagement and a 10% rise in revenue year over year. According to LinkedIn, as of early February, 18.6 million individuals have put an "open to working" green photo frame to their LinkedIn profile photographs, up from 6 million in February last year (users initially had the choice in 2020).
