Kris Gopalakrishnan launches 'Itihaasa' app – traces India's IT history

Kris Gopalakrishnan, Co-founder of Infosys, in the presence of industry leaders on Sunday evening launched a new smartphone app called Itihaasa that aims to extensively narrate the history of India’s IT revolution over the past six decades. Available on Android and iOS platform, the app will provide a detailed view of the evolution Indian IT, it’s growth and challenges faced from the initial days till the present. Hear F C Kohli, Prof Rajaraman, Prof. Mahabala, N R Narayana Murthy, Azim Premji, S Ramadorai, Nandan Nilekani, N Vittal and others trace this incredible journey – from the installation of the country’s first modern computer in 1955 to crystal gazing on Indian IT in 2040. The history of Indian IT is an ongoing research and will be updated periodically. The platform will explore and publish historical research on other topics in the future.

Itihaasa includes 600 short videos, including over 37 hours of footage, 350 archived photographs, and articles. The application gives information from the installation of the country’s first modern computer in 1955 to crystal gazing on Indian IT in 2040. With this completely digital app 'itihaasa', Gopalakrishnan brings a new form of storytelling of India's IT history.
